Battlefield 4 came out an year ago, and at the time was considered to be demanding game. Maybe I'm spoiled nowadays, when most games run easily solid 60. I ordered my first HOTAS flight stick (X55 Rhino) and got this game because I was certain that it will run well. I have to say I'm kind of disappointed I don't think my comp is that bad, and it easily surpasses the recommended specs for this game. How is the game with your i7 4820K 4.6 GHz? Can you run solid 60 fps with 1920x1080 resolution? If it makes you feel better, even I can't reach constant 60 FPS when I overclock to 4.3 or 4.4 GHz. It uses about 2-3 cores, so anything higher than a quad core CPU won't help either. The game is either very CPU demanding or not well optimized for it. It currently is a problem for many of us who have multi GPU setups. Overclocking the CPU to 4.5 or higher gave me a noticeable FPS increase, but my GPUs are still far from 100% usage. Later I found out that even my two GTX 670 were already bottlenecked by the CPU. I had no performance increase (at low altitudes, many things to render for the CPU). It was the same for me as I switched from two GTX 670 to three GTX 780. CPU can run below 100% but still be the bottleneck through, can't explain why but that is how it is. If you check the GPU usage with a tool like MSI Afterburner, you will see that your GPUs are not running on 100%. Problem is the CPU, which is most likely your bottleneck. I have tried with SLI disabled/enabled, vSync disabled/enabled, frame limit 60 disabled/enabled, with all settings and all combinations. It doesn't stay solid 60 even with lowest settings, AA off. What can I do about this? I read that some people can't reach solid 60 fps even on ridiculously expensive rigs? I just want solid 60 in all situations, even if I have to lower graphics. Turning off SLI makes my frames BETTER.Įnter a bigger battle, and I can dip as low as 15-20.
I can get solid 60 only with 1 vs 1 planes or similar. Whoever helps me fix this problem will be my best friend.Does the game even support SLI yet? I get slightly better frames if I turn it off.Ģ x ASUS GTX 770 DirectCU II OC 2 GB DDR5 SLI Increased size of page file (did fix sound loop crashes, but no affect on fps)

Installed a patch that adds LODs to most items in the game Restored said settings to factory defaults Tweaked various settings in Nvidia Control Panel This, of course, causes the bane of all FPS players: bad hit registration. Now, if I am correct, having a framerate lower than that 66 (fps, in this case) means that I am not generating info quick enough, leaving the server guessing not only where I am, but the locations of everyone else as well (relative to my screen).
That, on top of the fact that because I play competitively, I also have my network settings set up accordingly: where my client will send the server updates about my avatar and what he's doing at any given time 66 times per second. I play TF2 competitively, and for that, 30 fps will do nothing more than cause me to be used as a mop to clean the badlands with.
Now, before the obligatory "30 fps is more than playable", let me dump some exposition on you. No crash dialogue, no warning, just pfft. Without a maxfps config on DX8? I'm looking at as low as 20-30 fps, and also sometimes crashes the game. And even then, it cuts it pretty close dipping down to low 80's. TF2 has to look like it was made for the PlayStation in order to keep my framerate above 60. Any other game made by Valve? Generate so many frames I have to cap the framerate, else I reach 100 C even with both liquid and air cooling.

I can play nearly all demanding games either maxed out or on high at 1080p at >=60 fps. For quite some time now, I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my performance in TF2 was sub-par, and inexcusable on my system.
